I'm very happy to announce that for the next two months (from June 8 to August 8), I will be donating all proceeds from The Alpine Insurrection to Ferst Readers. Ferst Readers is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy, primarily in low-income communities. They do this by enrolling children in a book giveaway program that mails them age-appropriate, bookstore-quality books every month until they reach their fifth birthday.
There are many, many children that grow up without the resources and opportunities to succeed academically, and Ferst Readers is very effective in breaking this cycle. Their program has proven results that show increased literacy, increased test scores, and increased success rates for students that are enrolled. And, importantly, they are dedicated to transparency, so you know where your donated money is going. Spoiler alert, almost all of it goes back into the communities where it came from. I encourage you to check out more about their program and what they believe in here: https://ferstreaders.org/about-us/program-overview and to pick up a new summer reading book today!
